Gérard Paul Francis Houllier OBE (born 3 September 1947) is a French football manager and former player. His past clubs include Paris Saint-Germain, Lens and Liverpool, with whom he won the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup in 2001. He then guided Olympique Lyonnais to two French titles, before announcing his resignation on 25 May 2007. He became manager of Aston Villa in September 2010. He also coached the France national team between 1992 and 1993. He assisted Aimé Jacquet in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, was part of UEFA's and FIFA's Technical Committee in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cup finals, and technical director for the French Football Federation during the 2010 finals. In June 2011, he stepped down from club coaching, leaving his managerial role at Aston Villa, following frequent hospitalisation over heart problems.

Since July 2012, Houllier has been head of global football for Red Bull. He is responsible for Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg, Germany's RB Leipzig and American club New York Red Bulls, as well as the now dissolved Red Bull Brasil and Red Bull Ghana academies.

Liverpool Football Club is a professional football club in Liverpool, England, that competes in the Premier League, the top tier of English football. The club has won 5 European Cups, more than any other English club, 3 UEFA Cups, 3 UEFA Super Cups, 18 League titles, 7 FA Cups, 8 League Cups, and 15 FA Community Shields.

Founded in 1892, the club joined the Football League the following year and has played at Anfield since its formation. Liverpool established itself as a major force in English and European football in the 1970s and 1980s when Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley led the club to 11 League titles and seven European trophies. Under the management of Rafael Benítez and captained by Steven Gerrard, Liverpool became European champions for the fifth time in 2005.

Liverpool was the ninth highest-earning football club in the world in 2016–17, with an annual revenue of €424.2 million,[3] and the world's eighth most valuable football club in 2018, valued at $1.944 billion.[4] The club is one of the best supported teams in the world.[5] Liverpool has long-standing rivalries with Manchester United and Everton.

The club's supporters have been involved in two major tragedies: the Heysel Stadium disaster, where escaping fans were pressed against a collapsing wall at the 1985 European Cup Final in Brussels, with 39 people – mostly Italians and Juventus fans – dying, after which English clubs were given a five-year ban from European competition, and the Hillsborough disaster in 1989, where 96 Liverpool supporters died in a crush against perimeter fencing.

The team changed from red shirts and white shorts to an all-red home strip in 1964 which has been used ever since. The club's anthem is "You'll Never Walk Alone".

Liverpool Football Club – angielski klub piłkarski z siedzibą w Liverpoolu. W sezonie 2018/2019 jego pierwsza drużyna występuje w Premier League. Jest to jeden z najbardziej utytułowanych klubów w Anglii: 18-krotnie zostawał mistrzem Anglii, 7-krotnie zdobywał Puchar Anglii oraz 8-krotnie Puchar Ligi Angielskiej. Ponadto 5-krotnie wygrywał rozgrywki Pucharu Europy lub Ligi Mistrzów, co jest najlepszym osiągnięciem wśród wszystkich angielskich klubów. Pod względem liczby triumfów w Pucharze Europy lub Lidze Mistrzów ustępuje jedynie hiszpańskiemu Realowi Madryt (13 zwycięstw) i włoskiemu Milanowi (7 zwycięstw).

Liverpool F.C. został założony w 1892. Od 1900 do 1947, pięć razy zostawał mistrzem Anglii. Pod koniec lat 50., przez kilka sezonów grał na drugim szczeblu rozgrywek i do czasu zatrudnienia Billa Shankly’ego w 1959, nie awansował do pierwszej ligi. Klub tradycyjnie grał w strojach czerwono-białych, jednak w latach 60. usunięto barwę białą[1].

Pod wodzą Shankly’ego Liverpool trzykrotnie wygrywał rozgrywki ligowe, dwa razy zdobył Puchar Anglii oraz jeden raz Puchar UEFA (było to pierwsze europejskie trofeum wywalczone przez klub). Od 1977 do 1984 roku, czterokrotnie wygrywał Puchar Europy. W latach 90., zespół zanotował spadek formy, jednak w roku 2001, zdobył małą potrójną koronę, zaś cztery lata później wygrał rozgrywki Ligi Mistrzów.

Zamieszki na Heysel otoczyły klub ponurą sławą – 39 kibiców Juventusu zostało przygniecionych przez ścianę, która zawaliła się z powodu naporu tłumu. Cztery lata później wydarzyła się inna tragedia. Na stadionie Hillsborough, 96 fanów Liverpoolu zostało przygniecionych przez inne osoby. Z tego powodu do herbu klubu zostały dodane dwa płomienie[2][3]. Obydwie katastrofy miały duże znaczenie zarówno dla angielskiej, jak i europejskiej piłki nożnej.

Od czasu powstania, Liverpool F.C. rozgrywa swoje mecze domowe na Anfield, jednak przez pewien czas rozważano przenosiny na Stanley Park. Budowa nowego stadionu została jednak zaniechana, gdyż zdecydowano się na rozbudowę dotychczasowego obiektu[4].

Liverpool ma wielu kibiców na całym świecie. Lokalnym rywalem Liverpoolu jest Everton. Mecze rozgrywane pomiędzy tymi klubami nazywane są derbami Liverpoolu bądź też derbami Merseyside i zawsze wywołują sporo emocji wśród kibiców obu zespołów.

Drużyna bywa często, szczególnie w Polsce, mylnie określana jako F.C. Liverpool, podczas gdy pełna nazwa drużyny brzmi Liverpool Football Club, a więc Liverpool F.C.

Liverpool jest klubem o marce globalnej, wycenianym na 982 mln dolarów przez magazyn Forbes, co plasuje go na ósmym miejscu w światowym rankingu klubów piłkarskich.
