Connecting the transmitter to a bare conductor using the included alligator clips and test leads will always give you the most accurate results. In situations where direct connection to a bare conductor is not possible, the included i400 clamp meter can be used in Loop mode to induce an amplified 6 kHz signal through the insulation.
