Описание
Capitalism in Crisis
offers a bold and sweeping examination of the structural breakdowns shaking the global order in the early 21st century. From deepening economic inequality and democratic backsliding to ecological collapse and geopolitical fragmentation, this book uncovers how the neoliberal era—once hailed as the apex of economic rationality and political liberalism—has reached a critical impasse.Drawing on cutting-edge scholarship across political economy, international relations, sociology, and ecological thought, the book traces the historical rise of neoliberal orthodoxy and its global imposition through institutions like the IMF, World Bank, and WTO. It examines the rise of financialised capitalism, precarious labour, platform monopolies, and surveillance economies, showing how these developments have hollowed out democratic institutions and intensified social alienation. At the heart of the crisis is the emergence of a new global precariat, the collapse of stable middle-class identities, and the resurgence of authoritarian populism. Case studies from Hungary, Brazil, India, the U.S., and China illustrate the rise of illiberal democracies, while global flashpoints—from climate migration and supply chain wars to the fracturing of multilateralism—reveal a world drifting toward systemic disorder.Yet
Capitalism in Crisis
is also a search for hope. It explores post-capitalist alternatives emerging across the Global South and North—from solidarity economies, degrowth, and feminist care ethics to democratic digital governance and ecological cosmopolitanism. With visionary analysis and moral clarity, this book calls for a new global compact grounded in justice, sustainability, cooperation, and democratic renewal.Essential reading for scholars, activists, and global citizens,
