As Dem Take Born Bros. J.

As Dem Take Born Bros. J. is a hilarious, heartwarming Nigerian Christmas stage play that reimagines the Nativity story with unmistakable Naija flair. Through witty dialogue, lively music, and a mix of English, Pidgin, and local expressions, Christopher Nnodim Iheuwa retells the story of Mary, Joseph, and the birth of Jesus — but in a way that feels both deeply familiar and joyfully local. From choir rehearsals gone wrong to wise men arguing over fake gifts, and from angels arriving “like NEPA light” to Herod behaving like a power-hungry politician, this play fuses sacred storytelling with Nigerian humour and culture. Filled with music, dance, and satire, As Dem Take Born Bros. J. is perfect for stage performances, church dramas, school plays, and Christmas productions seeking to celebrate the birth of Christ in a way that speaks to today’s African audience.
