Future Sent is a collection of poems written between the ages of fifteen and twenty-four and published more than fifty years later. Preserved largely as they were first written, these poems capture a young voice shaped by faith, scripture, myth, history, and a deep desire to understand the world and the self. The work reflects the urgency and searching quality of youth—its spiritual questioning, wonder, and intensity—without the benefit or interference of hindsight. Rather than revising the poems into a contemporary voice, the author presents them as a message sent forward in time. A newly written introductory poem frames the collection, inviting the reader into a dialogue between past and present, between who the poet was and who now receives these words decades later. The poems range from devotional and meditative to exploratory and reflective, offering a rare literary record of continuity, memory, and the enduring power of an early creative voice.
