Описание
Henrik Ibsen (1828–1906) was a Norwegian dramatist widely regarded as a founder of modern realist theatre. He wrote plays that challenged social norms, especially around marriage, gender roles, morality, and individual freedom.
He wrote A Doll’s House in 1879 while living in self-imposed exile from Norway in Italy and Germany. During this period, he was deeply interested in exposing the pressures and hypocrisies of middle-class society. The play was influenced in part by a real-life case involving a woman who secretly borrowed money to save her husband and was later condemned for it. Ibsen used this kind of situation to question the legal and social limitations placed on women and to spark public debate about personal identity and equality within marriage.
