«Вольпоне», или «Лиса»

Volpone; or, The Fox is a sharp and entertaining satirical play that exposes the greed and moral corruption of society. Set in Venice, the story follows the wealthy and cunning Volpone, who pretends to be dying in order to trick fortune-hunters into showering him with lavish gifts in hopes of becoming his heir. Assisted by his clever servant Mosca, Volpone manipulates several greedy characters, revealing how easily people can be blinded by wealth and ambition. Through wit, deception, and dark humor, Jonson delivers a powerful critique of greed, hypocrisy, and human folly.
