This study aims at bringing out the real essence of the Vedas with reference to an ideal lifestyle for human beings that the Vedas had advocated. The basic difference between the Vedic Dharma and Hindu religion that the Dharma is universal and a religion is community confined. The original Vedic ideology got substituted when it is called a religion.The book has 8 Sections and 18 Units. Each Section has dealt with one aspect and affiliated topics of the Vedas and Sanatana Dharma . The first six sections deal with the Vedic content explaining the purpose of the Vedas and the concept of Dharma , and the related topics. Section VII deals with the prevalent present conditions with reference to the Vedic philosophy; and Section VIII concludes with an appeal to the global citizens to consider if there is a possibility of adopting a uniform ethical code for the entire world, with all the existing cultures, religions and communities staying intact.Sanatana Dharma is elucidated; the Dharma of the Vedas is eternal and applicable universally, cutting through time and space. Important components of the Vedic society namely, the Individual and importance of education, the Family and its dynamics and the Society with practices that ensure health are discussed. The strength of the Vedic kingdom lies on its four pillars called, the Ruler, the Advisors, the Scholars and the People. Their qualifications and responsibilities are discussed in detail. The value system of the Vedic society and its success in keeping up peace, equality and fraternity in the society are revealed.The Vedas are two dimensional; they provide Scientific Knowledge (Vignana) to all, and Spiritual Knowledge (Gnana) to the interested. The histories of the Ramayana and the Mahabharata find place in the study to connect the present with the past to help the present society gain knowledge about the Sanatana Dharma and its practicality.The following few units discuss the deviation of the global society from the Sanatana Dharma, enumerating its reasons and repercussions. The disappearance of such glorious Vedic culture is a mystery, and its impact on Historical, Political, Social, Educational and Religious dimensions of human life are detrimental for global harmony. It resulted in drastic change in the value system and led to untoward happenings. The following section tries to explain how the dharma differs from religion and could be followed by a whole society without changing their internal affiliations and differences and following both, without harming either. Sanatana Dharma is an Areligious Code of Conduct; the global citizens can come on that common premises in order to find some identity as human beings belong to one species called Homo sapiens. It expects human beings to follow a congenial lifestyle for peace and tranquillity within themselves, in their families, in the society and in the global community.One Global Community of Humans is the final appeal from the author of the book. It is an appeal to the global citizens to think of some solution to the present turbulence and turmoil felt all over the globe. Could this human race rise above these differences, keeping their ideologies and religions intact, and build a common channel of communication with a uniform ethical code such as the Sanatana Dharma?This study does not try to explain, analyse or interpret the Vedas or its content. Some relevant Veda mantras are chosen for each topic and are translated into simple English. This is totally an objective research study to bring the important content of the Vedas into the cognisance of the people all over the globe.
