In this tribute to Archie Everard John Cartmill, born in Australia in 1901 at the time of Federation, Tim Cartmill AO and Rosemary Cartmill describe their father's attributes, early life and development, family background, and numerous achievements in and around Nymboida, near Grafton, New South Wales. Inspired by the birth of the first Archie Cartmill's great, great grandchild Archie Felix Hede Cartmill in 2025, these recollections present the first Archie as a fond and funny father, family man, businessman and contributor to his community. Archie's life was short but affectionate and productive. He was happy in his marriage and family, much loved by his wife and children and greatly respected and admired in his community, including as an elder with St John’s Presbyterian Church Nymboida, a freemason and a former President of Nymboida Shire Council.
