Я – Ты Психологическая Игра

Created by Gestalt therapist Ula Krasny, I-Thou Cards is a psychological game for deepening relationships with others and getting to know oneself better.

I-Thou is a concept of relationship described by Martin Buber. According to Buber, the basis of dialogue is the kind of meeting where partners treat each other as subjects, are equal to each other, respect each other's differences and, above all, have no other goal than to get to know each other and meet in their authenticity.

The first I-Thou Cards appeared on the market in March 2000 and has since had 5 reprints.

Each I-Thou deck consists of 100 questions inspired primarily by Gestalt therapy. 50 of the questions are (mostly open-ended) questions about personal history, beliefs and relations, and the other 50 are relational questions about relationships between players.

• The I-Thou deck is used to play with others and deepen relationships.
• Or to use it on your own to get to know yourself better and develop as an individual.
• You can use it with a group of friends or acquaintances.
• You can take it on a date (as long as it's not the first one:) and use it to build a unique relationship.
• You can use it to see again the partner with whom you have spent the last 30 years of your life.
• You can also use it as a tool for group work (e.g. during workshops, trainings, etc.).

Questions are like windows for me. Only when I really try to answer and take the trouble to look for my own truth, do I open the window and look around in my inner world.

You can use I-Thou Cards alone, but it is primarily used to play with others. When I use the word "play," I don't mean playing a traditional game where there are winners and losers, but rather an activity with a proposed structure and rules.

The questions in I-Thou Cards are private. They are sometimes difficult. They relate to personal history and its impact on the present. Think of it as an experiment. Even if you have many years of your own therapy and development workshops behind you, it is useful to take a perspective: what is it/what does it look like for me now?

THE THEORY BEHIND THE I-THOU CARDS (SAMPLE CARD)

"Others find me attractive when..." is a phrase that refers to how the responding person experiences herself in the relational field in which he/she finds herself. Perhaps he/she feels attractive to others as a person who "listens and helps." Or perhaps when he/she has fashionable clothes and makeup. Or when he/she scores one achievement after another carried on a wave of success. Through this phrase, a person imagines and anticipates what others in his environment expect of him/her - in what role they accept him/her. The other side of this role is the potential shame when he/she doesn't meet these imagined expectations and, for example, doesn't help, doesn't sacrifice himself/herself, doesn't wear makeup, doesn't win over others, and then this question is about the conditions of being wanted/accepted by the world. The sentence "Others find me attractive when..." can indicate an area of pride and shame, an imagined value because of which I feel wanted and, at the same time, the role I play in my world.
